Digital Asset Management (DAM) is a reasonably new vertical. Established in the late 1990s, with the growth of the Internet, Digital Asset Management (DAM) consists of management tasks and decisions surrounding the ingestion, annotation, cataloguing, storage, retrieval and distribution of digital assets - digital photographs, animations, videos and music.

In time, various market... participants felt that the term Digital Asset Management (DAM) did not truly represent their offering. This is how Marketing Asset Management (MAM), Marketing Resource Management (MRM), Brand Asset Management (BAM) and Enterprise Marketing (EMM) were born.

What is the difference between DAM, MAM, BAM and MRM?

Digital Asset Management (DAM) is all about digital assets, in other words, files. Digital Asset Management (DAM) operates with text files. Digital Asset Management (DAM) operates with system files. Digital Asset Management (DAM) operates with video files. Digital Asset Management (DAM) operates with audio files.

Digital Asset Management

(DAM) operates with images. Simply put, if it is a file its operational efficiency can be enhanced by Digital Asset Management (DAM). Brand Asset Management and Marketing Asset Management are categories of Digital Asset Management. Here the content is largely marketing or sales-related. For example; product imagery, logos, marketing collateral or fonts. DAM (MAM, BAM, MRM, EMM) software may be open source or proprietary.
